12 Hours Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race 2001

Once again BSA alloy wheels proved its strength and durability in extreme conditions when the Proton PERT Waja, using BSA219 (VSC) emerged CHAMPIONS in the Open Class race (Class O)

As a result of BSA's partnership with the Petronas EON Racing Team EON Racing Team (PERT), the team has entered this year's Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race using BSA alloy wheels for its two entries, the Proton PERT and Proton PERT Waja.  Proton PERT Waja won the Class O category and was second in the overall standings.  The Proton PERT Waja is a superbly modified car and is the first of its kind to enter a racing competition.  Our Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed took time off from his busy schedule to attend the Merdeka Millenium Endurance Race 2001 and has a look on at the Proton PERT Waja.  He was equally impressed with the car which used BSA 219 (VSC) alloy wheels for the 12 Hours race.

BSA hereby thank all who have supported us continuously throughout our journey.

MERDEKA MILLENNIUM ENDURANCE RACE 2001 - SPEEDING TO SUCCESS WITH BSA WHEELS

The recently held Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race 20001 in the Sepang F1 International Circuit was a good outing for BSA. The Proton Pert Waja using BSA alloy wheels model 219 VSC won the race in Class O and was second overall completing 245 laps. The team comprising of local drivers Eric Yeo, Myke Phua and Kimi did well to prove the capabilities of the Proton Waja to last the endurance race. It also once again proved the strength and durability of BSA alloy wheels to meet the challenges in extreme conditions . However, the other PERT car, the Proton PERT driven by Karamjit Singh, Jimmy Low and Keifli was unlucky to finish fourth in the Class A category. The Proton PERT had their work cut out when the car had a turbocharger damaged during the warm -up session. It took them almost 2 hours to fix it up again. Nevertheless, they managed to catch up with the other cars to finish a respectable fourth in the race. BSA Team Competizione was unlucky not to be able to finish the race when a mechanical failure stopped them from their race. The team with their drivers Key Soon Yue , lla Ridak and left Wright was having a good race by placing second at one stage and was fourth when the problem occurred. However, they still managed to finish 68 laps and once again proved the durability of BSA < EAGLE ROCK> alloy wheels to last grueling and challenging race.

BSA would like to congratulate PERT for their success in the Merdeka Millennium Race 2001 and would like to wish them more success in future competitions.

BSA Porsche Team Competizione also complete in the Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race 2001. This time drivers Key Soon Yue and lla Ridak is accompanied by a new addition to the team, talented driver Jeff Wright . The team using the Porsche 993 with the proven BSA < EAGLE ROCK> alloy wheels did well in the qualifying to earn them 7th place in the staring grid . However, luck was against the team in the race as mechanical failure prevented the car from finishing the race. The car was second at one stage and was fourth when bad luck denied them. Nevertheless the team should be proud as they managed to clock  the second fastest lap time in the race behind team TVR. Better luck next time!!!

BSA - PERT TIE UP

A press conference was held on the 29th of August 2001 at the Sepang International Circuit to announce the sponsorship tie-up between BSA International Berhad and the Petronas EON Racing Team ( PERT ) . With this tie-up worth around RM 300,000.00, PERT will be using BSA alloy wheels for their cars in all competition that they will enter this year be it racing or rallies. BSA will make custom made alloy wheels for PERT to be used by their cars suiting the races and rallies conditions. Datuk Hj.
