BSA Motorsports Racing Team launched a new race-bred Radical SR3 Super Sport race car at Saloma Theatre Restaurant Kuala Lumpur on 26 August 2003, one week before the 2003 Merdeka Millennium Endurance (MME) Race take place. The launch was graced by the Group Executive Chairman of BSA International Berhad, Yang Berbahagia Dato' Dr. Cam Soh together with guest of honor, Yang Berhormat Datuk Chan Kong Choy, the Transport Minister of Malaysia. |
The new Radical SR3 was one of the three cars from the BSA Racing Team ran during MME and was piloted by Britons Stuart Mosely, Simon Moulton and Australian Kozi Kalaitzidis. Stuart Mosely is entering his second yaer as development driver for Radical Sport Cars, while Simon Moulton was the 2002 runner-up in the Radical Pro Sport Championship in the United Kingdom. Kozi Kalaitzidis is currently driving in the Australian Nations Cup and has competed in the Malaysia MME and Nurbugring 24-hour endurance race in Germany before. |
The Radical SR3 Super Sport is powered by a 1,500cc Suzuki Hayabusa engine which churns out 252 horse-power, and weighs just 500kg, providing an outstanding power-to-weight ratio. It wasn't really a surprise for the team when the Radical SR3 race car scored the highest mark and created the fastest lap time of 2:15.184 in the qualifying round of 2003 MME. |
BSA, who has been appointed as the sole distributor for the Radical race car in AFTA and China zone, planned to sell the race cars, with immediate plans to bring in 20 units to be sold and rented out for a planned one-make race series in Asia. Its affordable attractive selling price, ranging from RM 188,000 - RM 288,000, provides competitive edge and definitely a means of racing throughbred sports cars. |
